Japan is a country close to the heart of every designer, and especially to Adlai, who spent a decade in Tokyo where he worked as Creative Manager in the main office of Japan’s leading cosmetics Shiseido.
Therefore, it was only natural that the Israeli Embassy in Tokyo invited us to design a logo to mark 60 years of diplomatic relations between Israel and Japan. The Embassy’s ultimate goal was to create a platform for dialog and to deepen knowledge between the two countries.
In designing the logo, we wanted to create a connection between the Japanese and the Israeli. The logo was a ‘Mizuhiki’ image, a traditional Japanese system of interweaving that symbolizes connection in Japanese culture. In the logo, the interweaving creates a Star of David and the color scheme integrates blue, signifying Israel, and the red of Japan.
